Vibratory Impacts of Music and Transport on Collections: Current Practices and Experiences Questionnaire

The Vibratory Impacts of Music and Transport on Collections Questionnaire addresses current topics involving vibrations and collections.

In recent years, museums and cultural heritage organizations around the world are taking note of the potential impact that vibrations from music can have on their collections. In addition, new questions are being raised about the potential impact of vibrations that objects experience during transport.

Scientists involved in the protection of collections are conducting research into these topics. To inform and focus this research, the purpose of this questionnaire is to collect objective information on the current real-life experiences and practices of museums and cultural heritage organizations on vibrations caused by 1) music and 2) transport.

All those impacted by these issues are encouraged to complete this questionnaire by April 30.

Atelier FAS is excited to have been selected to relocate a 100,000-object museum collection over the course of the last ten+ months (and counting). As if a project of this scale was not daunting enough, we’ve had to do it during a global pandemic, strictly following COVID guidelines and protocols. We are proud to report that our team and the museum staff are all healthy!
