Since Hizkia van Kralingen, CEO and founder of Turtle, invented the art transport crate Turtle in 1994 it has been used by museums across the globe for the safe transportation of valuable artworks. Turtle recently carried out scientific studies into the vibration reduction performance of various types of packing materials. This was done under the auspices of the vibration expert Prof. Dr. Kerstin Kracht. The studies show that vibrations were reduced most efficiently by what are called ‘wire rope isolators’.
The new advanced securing system T+ that has just hit the market guarantees the optimum vibration reduction for any specific work of art, regardless of its size or weight. The T+ blocks used for holding the painting in place in the crate use the wire rope isolators to transform the input of vibrations so that the output to the painting itself, and therefore the vulnerable paint layers, is minimized. Better than that, the reduction is now 100% compared to the traditional double-walled wooden crates. This is an unparalleled and revolutionary innovation in safe transport for artworks.
The Kröller-Müller Museum in The Netherlands became the first museum to use the T+ when it recently lent three paintings by Vincent van Gogh to the United States. Tanja de Boer, head of collections and research:

“We are pleased to be able to work with the T+ for the recent transport of three paintings by Vincent van Gogh to Houston in the United States. It means that the artworks from our collection can be transported with even less risk to exhibitions within the Netherlands and abroad. We are enthusiastic about the way we've been able to help develop the T.” The paintings are currently on display at the exhibition: Hockney – Van Gogh: The Joy of Nature in the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston.
And thanks to our Silver Sponsor Ancecom for its support of ARCS!
